A Republic of Virtue
Robespierre stated that Virtue was the very soul of the French First Republic, and this is the case as well with the Republic of Nordale. The people of Nordale are a devoted and loving people, concerned principally with the well-being of others above themselves. Justice, equality, and good-will to all mankind are the watchwords of the whole Nordalian people, whose politics, art, spirituality, and more are all defined by this very virtue so often spoken of in government documents, public speeches, and at holiday gatherings. Throughout its history, the Republic has done its best at putting its politics of Virtue into practice on the micronational level concerning injustices in the community as well as at a macronational level, drawing its Citizens attention to the many plights of the world as we know it. |
Nearer to Thee
The spirituality of the Nordalian people acts as the very cornerstone of their dedication to virtue. The Nordalian people themselves are deeply involved in many different religions and spiritual paths, some which span the whole globe many times over with thousands of years of history, and some of them being smaller or even individual ways of understanding the world. What draws the majority of these faiths together though is the Cult of the Supreme Being, or COTSB for short. The COTSB is inspired by its namesake in the French Revolution, and its tenets are broadly the same; belief in a Supreme Being, and the immortality of the Human Soul. While many within the Cult are not themselves Deists, the Cult serves as a way to bring all Nordalian faithful together into one shared purpose for the sake of liberty, fraternity, and equality. |
