Nordale's Calendar
Early in its history, the Republic of Nordale officially adopted the French Republican Calendar, a calendar created in the midst of the French Revolution as an effort to try and make a more rational calendar not influenced by what the revolutionaries saw as religious or royalist imagery. The calendar is based in many ways off of the decimal system. The following is a brief overview of the calendar and a few words about Nordale's few unique interpretations of it.
Like the Gregorian calendar, the French Republican Calendar has 12 months, named :
These festivals are named, in order, Virtue, Talent, Labor, Convictions, Honors, and on our leap years, we have the much celebrated Festival of the Revolution! These festival names are the same as the ones proposed by Fabre d'Églantine, who invented the names of this calendar. Moreover, every day of the calendar has a name, named for natural features!
